The unusual performance of Turkey's shooter Yusuf Dikec in the mixed 10-meter air pistol competition at the Paris Olympics has amazed fans and not only.

Everyone was surprised and reacted with posts on social networks after the 51-year-old and his partner Sevval Ilayda Tarhan won the silver medal.

It was Dikec's unconventional approach to the competition that made him viral on the net. He competes very relaxed, without using the typical shooting equipment and keeps one hand in his pocket.

Most shooters in the Olympics wear earmuffs to protect their ears from noise when shooting and wear specialized goggles that obscure the vision in one eye so competitors don't have to keep it closed, and sometimes have tinted lenses to help with the shine.

But in the absence of all these elements in the performance of the 51-year-old Turkish, the question began to arise on the network: "Did Turkey send a hitman to the Olympics?".

The truth is that for Dikec this was his fifth participation in an Olympics. He made his debut in 2008, when the sporting mega-event was held in Beijing, but the Paris silver victory is his first Olympic medal.

During his long career spanning more than two decades, Dikec has won numerous gold medals at the ISSF World Championships, ISSF World Cup, European Championships and European Games.

He studied at Gazi University's School of Physical Training and Education in Ankara and later completed a master's degree at Selcuk University in Konya.
