Polish Swiatek dominates Roland Garros final
Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek

World number one Iga Swiatek proved why she was the undisputed favourite to win the French Open. The Polish tennis player overcame Coco Gauff without much else to win her second Grand Slam title.

Swiatek won 6-1 6-3 against the American teenager to mark her 35th consecutive victory - matching the Longest WTA Series this century.

Gauff, 18, was competing in her first grand final and made a nervous start to the match.

Swiatek, who also won Roland Garros in 2020, benefited from the nervousness of the opponent, who also erred in the start of the balls and secured the sixth consecutive title.

Polish figures are scary. Swiatek has won in 56 of her last 58 set. She also held her winning series in the final, raising that record to nine in a row.
