Pierre Wolnik, the two-time French world freefall champion, died on Monday after jumping from a helicopter on Mont Blanc, Italian media reported.
Wolnik's parachute failed to open, resulting in an inevitable fatal accident.
The Frenchman had chosen the Mont Blanc massif in Haute-Savoie to undertake his challenge.
Pierre Wolnik had jumped from Mont Blanc in a wingsuit, but something went dramatically wrong for the 37-year-old and he crashed in the village of Bossons.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene but were unable to save him. His body was later found and transported by helicopter.
A member of the French team, Pierre was scheduled to compete in the 2026 World Championships this summer.
His death was announced on his Facebook page by Yves-Marie Guillaud, president of the French Parachuting Federation, who described him as "a talented young man with such a friendly smile" and "an extraordinary skydiver."
