Pele passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 29, after a battle with cancer. He spent the last hours of his life with all his family members by his side, except for his mother, 100-year-old Celeste, who still does not know that her son is no more.

The news was announced by ESPN Brasil, which has as its source the sister of the legend Pele.

“Lady Celeste doesn't know yet. She's fine, but she's in her own world. I was telling him before that he is not well, we must pray for him. She looks at me, but she is not conscious", says Maria Lúcia do Nascimento, Pele's sister.

A few weeks ago, Lady Celeste turned 100 years old. In 2020, she lost her other son, Zoca, while this week Pelena. Maria Lucia is the only child left.
