"Nona Tirona", the wife of Selman Stërmasi, dies at the age of

Nezihat Stërmasi, the wife of the great football player Selman Stërmasi, passed away this morning at the age of 102.

Known as "Lady Tirana", Nezihat Stërmasi lived her whole life as the embodiment of the Tirana woman. Always tireless, hospitable, loving, always buzagaz has welcomed and escorted thousands of citizens, footballers, people who lived at the same time as the great Selman Stërmasi all these years.

She was quite young, only 14 years old, when she recognized Selman Stërmas from the family entrances and exits of two houses, which had old friendships together. In 1936, the engagement between Nezihat and Selman was announced.

He was in his prime. He was the absolute champion of Albania with Tirana in football, but also in athletics. After a long engagement of 3 years, as required by tradition, they got married in 1939. Selman's wedding with Nezihat is undoubtedly one of the first weddings to be filmed in Albania.

Nezihat's dowry was all entrusted to his brother Malik Petrela, who was studying there at the time, in Vienna. Year 1940 20-year-old Nezihati became the mother of a beautiful girl, to whom she devoted everything her youthful spirit could carry. These were beautiful, peaceful years, where joy and harmony knew no bounds. Selmani was at the peak of his career as a coach and had given Italian football masters like Lushta e Kryeziu.

He lived a life so beautiful, so suffering, but always surrounded by love from everyone. The centuries-old lady of Tirana closed her eyes today, naturally, as she lived long enough to see the tribute paid to her husband after his death.
