Luis Figo wrote a scathing letter against Infantino, published by the Daily Mail, in which he directly attacks the FIFA president.

The former Portuguese player, who is also one of Ceferin's advisors at UEFA, gives his version of the events of recent weeks and openly calls for Infantino's resignation.

"I could write 10,000 words about the problems at FIFA. But the solution is summed up in just three words: Infantino must go. I have loved football all my life. I was a professional footballer for 20 years. And believe me, during that time I have met quite a few dishonest people in this sport. But what I have seen come to light over the last ten days is the lowest, most deceitful and most selfish behaviour I have ever seen. The man who would act like this, the man who would try to impose such big changes just to enrich himself and his friends, belongs to the past of football and should have no role in its future," Figo said.

Of course, he states that Infantino sought to enrich himself and his friends at the expense of football.

"If it was such an indisputable plan, why didn't he openly show that it would eventually secure him a $30 million-a-year job? None of that happened. Because it's not a good idea. You can't call it a solid plan when you're not transparent about the dizzying profits that private equity funds always demand. None of this is surprising, considering the long list of abuses he has done to football's reputation: from suspensions and then annulments of disciplinary decisions, to violating the rules of the game due to a showdown between halves, nothing stops him when it comes to pleasing his friends," Figo said.

And finally, Figo highlights the lack of internal support and critical voices he has encountered within FIFA.

“Football needs a serious discussion about money. But not about money that could end up in the hands of investors or in the inflated salaries of administrators. I mean, for example, the $5 billion that FIFA holds in reserves. How many shares could they buy in this dirty and secretive scheme? All of them! So there is no need for foreign investment. This plan, like the European Super League before it, collapsed thanks to the media, which revealed every backstage and every secret maneuver before its supporters could build their narrative. And fortunately, that is how it happened. Infantino has degraded the position of FIFA President, which he once promised to elevate to a higher level. He has lied, cheated and tried to enrich himself at the expense of the game that is supposed to serve him. He has lost the support of his management staff, his closest advisors, the vast majority of the people who have dedicated their lives to it "This sport and, apparently, the winner of the FIFA Peace Prize. It's too late to save his dignity, but it's not too late to save football. He must go. Now ," said Figo.
