Albanian volleyball has recently encountered an unprecedented event.

Dinamo volleyball player  Nayara Ferreira has been temporarily suspended by the Federation after there were complaints about her from the Vllaznia and Pogradec clubs regarding her gender.

Signals from rivals have led to the Dinamo club being asked to conduct a 'gender test' for the 32-year-old.

It seems that the Brazilian did not take this incident well, but together with the club, she went to the gynecologist.

The FSV requires more in-depth tests to see if we are dealing with a gender change from Nayara.

The Brazilian volleyball player has complained about discrimination to women's protection associations, but also to the Brazilian Embassy in Tirana, as she feels insulted.

The capital club believes that Ferreira has been prejudiced because of her style of dress, while her 16-year career as a professional volleyball player leaves no room for doubt.

At the moment there is no public reaction from the parties, but everyone is caught by surprise by such a request.

No reaction is expected until the results of the tests are released, but the fact is that until now Nayara Ferreira is suspended.

Even in the match Dinamo won yesterday against Tirana, Nayara Ferreira was not ready.

Meanwhile, a response from the Albanian Volleyball Federation states that the Albanian Volleyball Federation 'remains committed to ensuring a fair and transparent process at every step, in accordance with national and international volleyball regulations'.

Interestingly, in the announcement, the Federation calls the volleyball player 'madam (Ms.)', trying not to be discriminatory in a very delicate case for human dignity.
