Boris Matic, the father of Croatian judoka Barbara Matic, who won the Olympic gold medal in Paris, was arrested yesterday in France on suspicion of sexual assault on a volunteer in charge of accommodating spectators.

She reported to the police that Boris Matic forcibly kissed her while she was celebrating her daughter's victory in the quarterfinals of the competition. The 24-year-old volunteer, shocked by the behavior of the athlete's father, says that she tried to reject him, but he kissed her forcefully.

French BFMTV has learned from police sources close to the case that Barbara Matic's father has been sent to the 7th arrondissement police station in Paris and that he is currently under investigation, following a complaint against him. According to them, he is still in custody in Paris.

Le Parisien writes that Barbara Matic's father was particularly vocal and when his daughter took a step closer to the final, he was overjoyed. In that burst of joy, he allegedly grabbed the young volunteer by the shoulders and forcefully kissed her on the mouth before running down the stairs.

Everything is suspected to have been seen by the witness, who told the same version to the policemen who interrogated her. She says that the volunteer tried to push him away from her, but he still managed to kiss her. The witness says that the volunteer was shocked and pale after that.
