After the end of the World Cup, France is a matter to be resolved, as coach Didier Deschamps is out of contract at the end of the year.
According to the latest reports from the French media, Deschamps is ready to continue with France and will let the president of the French Football Federation know about it, but the only question mark is the length of the contract. Federation leaders are willing to offer him the renewal until Euro 2024, but Deschamps is not satisfied, as he wants to lead the 2-time World Champions at the 2026 World Cup as well.
The most likely alternative to replace Deschamps on the bench of France is Zinedine Zidane who has been unemployed since the end of the 2020-2021 season when he left Real Madrid and is waiting to take over the leadership of the French national team, but it seems this will not become a reality, after the success that France had in the Qatar World Cup.
Despite the many absences, Deschamps managed the group he had at his disposal quite well, got the most out of it and in the end he missed the chance to triumph for the third time in the world, as the goal set by the French federation was to reach the semi-finals.
