Eight doctors and nurses will stand trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona. So decided the Chamber of Appeal and Guarantee of the court of San Isidro, composed of Carlos Fabian Blanco, Gustavo Adrian Herbel and Ernesto Garcia Mannon, which confirmed the hypothesis of the crime of possible intentional homicide.

This crime in Argentina is punishable by 8 to 25 years in prison. It has not yet been announced when the trial will take place in the case in question. The Argentinian football legend passed away over two years ago, on November 25, 2020, as investigations into the cause were opened in the following days by a court-appointed panel of experts.

The investigation revealed that the former legendary number 10 had not been properly assisted in his apartment, after leaving the hospital, where he had a head surgery. He died alone in Tigre, a city 25 kilometers from Buenos Aires.

The lack of proper medical treatment had unfortunately rapidly worsened the living conditions of Maradona, who had undergone brain surgery a few days earlier.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Angel Diaz, coordinating doctor Nancy Edith Forlini, coordinator of nurses Mariano Ariel Perroni, nurse Ricardo Omar Almiron, nurse Dahiana Gisela Madrid and doctor Pedro are under investigation and already under official charges by the prosecution.
