Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a video message on Facebook, reacted to the signing of the social security agreement with Italy.
"Today is a day of triumph for politics as an irreplaceable tool to make the lives of ordinary people better, safer, more dignified. For me, it is one of those lucky days, when the feeling of being valuable to the people of this country becomes very tangible and equals to zero all the heavy weight of the mud of the political and media arena", said Rama.
According to the head of the government "today there are more than 500 thousand Albanians who can smile at the end of a long odyssey of thirty-odd years".
"When we started talking with the Italian government of the time about the pensions of Albanian immigrants ten years ago, they waited and waited. Initially, it seemed quite impossible due to the significant financial weight of such an agreement".
Rama expressed thanks to high officials who made the agreement possible, including " the prime minister of Italy and the precious partner in the further strengthening of Albanian-Italian relations, Giorgia Meloni, without whom today's signing of the final document of this vital agreement for the Albanians of Italy , it just wouldn't have happened."
"Obviously, this effort does not end here, because there are still other agreements to be concluded until the last Albanian worker in emigration enjoys the right to recognition of his work and sweat wherever he has paid social security from work in a country other", said Rama.
