Prime Minister Rama published today a photo album from yesterday.

On December 6, 2022, the historic EU-Western Balkan Summit was held in Tirana.

"And with the photo album of an unforgettable event in the history of Albania's international relations, I wish you a good day", writes the Prime Minister next to the published photos.

Leaders of the 26 member countries of the European Union, leaders of the main institutions of the Union, as well as leaders of the Balkan countries were yesterday in Tirana, where the EU-Western Balkans summit was held, the first in history to be held outside the borders of the EU. .

The enlargement of the EU in the Western Balkans seems to have become a primary issue of the bloc, due to Russia's aggression on Ukraine and the increase in tensions.

On the same day as the high-level meeting between the leaders of the EU and those of the Western Balkans, the opposition held a protest, which was marked by incidents. Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha was physically attacked by a person named Gert Shehu, who was neutralized by Berisha's bodyguards and arrested by the police.

At the end of the summit, Prime Minister Edi Rama and EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel held a joint conference, in which the latter emphasized the bloc's support for the region.
