Vangjel Tavo has been appointed by Prime Minister Edi Rama as prefect of the Vlora district, replacing Flamur Mamaj in this position.

The decision for Tavo was taken at today's government meeting.

DECISION ON THE RELEASE AND APPOINTMENT OF THE PREFECT OF VLORA DISTRICT

In support of Articles 100 and 114 of the Constitution and Article 5 of Law No. 107/2016, "On the District Prefect", with the proposal of the Minister of the Interior, the Council of Ministers

DECIDE:

1. Mr. Flamur Mamaj, prefect of Vlora District, is released from this duty.

2. Mr. Vangjel Tavo is appointed prefect of Vlora District.

This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette".

Tavo's return to the stage

Tavo was the deputy of the district of Gjirokastra from the ranks of the Socialist Movement for Integration Party, but he never hid his mutual sympathy with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The name of Tavos has been in the center of attention a few weeks ago, after his name was mentioned by the Greek media, as a possible candidate of Rama for the Municipality of Himara, in case the elections were to be repeated with the conviction of Fredi Beleri. 

The death of the girl

A few months ago, Vangjel Tavo, who has also held the position of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, went through a very difficult family moment.

His daughter died on November 29, 2023 as a result of a serious road accident in North Macedonia.

The deceased Eva Tavo was 30 years old.
