The next EU-Western Balkans summit will take place on December 6 in Tirana.
The news was announced by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, through a post on Twitter.
"The Western Balkans is a key priority for the European Union. The EU and the Western Balkans need each other," writes Charles Michel on Twitter.
This will be the first time that this summit will be held in one of the countries of the region and Tirana has been decided for this.
A few days ago, the media in Belgrade wrote that Serbia was excluded as an option for holding the summit due to the non-imposition of sanctions against Russia.
The summit comes at a time when Albania and North Macedonia have started negotiations, while Kosovo is awaiting visa liberalization and Bosnia-Herzegovina is awaiting the status of a candidate country.
At this important summit, the EU is expected to send an even stronger signal to the Western Balkans, using the momentum created by the war in Ukraine to accelerate the enlargement process.
