Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has called on Prime Minister Edi Rama to "stop the war" against the opposition, warning that they will respond with civil disobedience.
In a statement to the media from the Presidency of the Assembly, Salianji reacted harshly after the 10-day expulsion of 18 MPs from the opposition for causing chaos in the last parliamentary session.
Salianji himself was suspended for 20 days by the Ethics Commission.
Salianj's statement:
After approving the regulation of the Assembly as they wished without consensus, Rama's patronageists took another shameful decision.
It is not the wish of any political party to determine the political opponent, it is determined by votes and the vote determined it.
Hating the parliament and the opposition is another act that proves Rama's dictatorial mindset.
The decision came just an hour before the ethics commission met. We consider it as a declaration of war, to which we will prepare the answer.
We inform the international partners that their repeated calls are being ignored in a Putinian way by Edi Rama. The temporary dismissal of 19 opposition MPs cannot be done by the government.
We call on Edi Rama to stop the war against the opposition, otherwise we will respond with all forms of civil disobedience. We call on the European Parliament to send a monitoring mission to Albania.
