Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the European Union is showing with concrete actions that it is now more committed to the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans in the union, "thanks" also to the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

" We are seeing that the EU is much more aware in deeds and not only in words, of the strategic importance of the Western Balkans for the EU. It's sad that it took Vladimir Putin to make this happen. I believe that we must now maintain this pace in order to take bold steps forward and not wait for another aggression to remind us, and to remind the people in Brussels, how important the Western Balkans is for the EU" , said Rama during a media conference in Brussels, where he participated in the Meeting of the European Economic and Social Committee.

The prime minister added that the time has come for the EU to understand that the countries of the Western Balkans are not only mature enough, but are in a situation where they deserve to be embraced and brought closer. " What is happening today is an exemplary example of what should happen further at other levels. I firmly believe that what is happening here today should happen in the EU Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council ", said Rama.

"This is the only way to calm all spirits and inject a very concrete, tangible and useful energy in all the candidate countries, related to the very concrete future of being part of the EU. Otherwise, we risk entering a never-ending path of good intentions, a multitude of promises but none
