Prime Minister Edi Rama began the exit with a statement to announce the social resistance package, as he calls it, saying Albania is the only NATO country and in Europe where prices are being protested for rising prices from the war in Ukraine.
"We are the only NATO and European country to protest against the consequences of war. Price dance is a consequence of war, others deceive," Rama said.
According to Rama, protests are ruining the country's image.
"To strip it today in the eyes of the whole world, you must not even have the vital minimum of the morality and conscience of the nation," he added.
Rama said the government has done much to protect citizens, and that shows, according to him, the electricity bill.
"For months the energy bill has been paid with the government, the government pays almost 80 per cent of the energy bill to every Albanian family and every small business. That's not what any other government has done, not in this countine where we live. We pledged that we would not raise the price," he said.
