The chairman of PD Sali Berisha described the process of the primaries held today in the country's 56 municipalities as the establishment of a standard never seen before in Albania, which, according to him, makes PD the most powerful political force in the country.
"On this occasion, I want to emphasize that today, it was the 5th time since December 18, 2021 that the members and members of the DP and its sympathizers spoke, decided and signed with their vote. I don't believe that there is another political force anywhere that in a period of time, about 12 months, has exercised with its entire membership 5 times their vote. In this context, I am convinced that every member of the DP, its sympathizers, feel freer, more dignified, more motivated than ever in their democratic ideals. I am convinced that they appreciate this major change of DP. This process by which this political force overturned the procedure of representation and the elections of party leaders, its local government. In all these procedures, the sovereign for DP was the membership, neither the chairman nor the presidency. So, a democratic standard is established in this way, never seen before in Albania, which makes PD today the most powerful political force in Albania. The most dedicated force for the freedom and rights of its members and tomorrow in power of the Albanian citizens.
The chief democrat emphasized that the only way is the free vote, that there is no democracy without the free vote.
"Today's primary procedure also marked the true, real, institutional opening of the DP. More than 200 candidacies took part in the race, but there is not one of them that can say that I participated as a candidate for the chairmanship of the DP. No. That all as the free will of the candidates or the proposal of the members and branches of the DP. The only way is the free vote, because there is no democracy without the free vote, and we go to these elections more openly than ever".
The membership of the Democratic Party and sympathizers of this political force voted this Sunday through the primary process to elect opposition candidates for mayors in the May 14 local elections.
