Tirana became the capital of Europe today, after welcoming the Political Community Summit, a forum that brought 52 European leaders to the Albanian capital, including Presidents, Prime Ministers, leaders of the EU, NATO and OSCE.

Meanwhile, the absence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was noticeable. It is learned that Mitsotakis left for the US on Thursday, where he will chair a high-level open discussion in the context of the Greek presidency of the UN Security Council.

The summit organized by the President of the European Council, António Costa, and Prime Minister Edi Rama was held at Skanderbeg Square and the proceedings began at 11:00, to conclude with the conference of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of Denmark, as the country taking over the baton for the next summit. "The rearmament of Europe will be a priority," stressed Mette Frederiksen.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and European Council President Antonio Costa, co-organizers of the summit in Tirana, focused their opening speeches on European security, support for Ukraine, the defense of democracy, and common responses to common threats.

The central topic of the summit discussion was "New Europe in a New World: Unity - Cooperation - Joint Action", structured in 3 round tables with different topics.

Support for Ukraine, European defense, preserving democracy, preparedness and the ability to respond to various threats were in the focus of the summit, which also included the British Prime Minister, the French President and the Turkish President. Issues focusing on the economy, the competitive market, innovation or illegal immigration and labor movement were also addressed.
