Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i?, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte are the four leaders who have left Tirana early, where the European Political Community summit is taking place.
Due to their agenda, the four leaders left for Rinas Airport immediately after lunch, which followed the first part of the proceedings at the House of Europe.
Meanwhile, from Tirana, European leaders unanimously conveyed a strong message to Russia to stop the war in Ukraine. At the summit table of the European Political Communities, Rama called for an alliance beyond armaments, an idea that was also supported by Emmanuel Macron.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, from the European Political Community summit being held in Tirana, also held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, which also included French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
"I spoke with President Donald Trump, along with President Macron, Federal Chancellor Merz, Prime Ministers Starmer and Tusk. We discussed the meeting in Istanbul. Ukraine is ready to take the fastest possible steps to bring about real peace, and it is important that the world takes a strong stance. Our position is clear — if the Russians refuse a full, unconditional ceasefire and an end to the killings, tough sanctions must follow. Pressure on Russia must continue until it is ready to end the war. Thank you to everyone in the world who is helping," Zelensky wrote on the social network 'X'.
