The Foreign Minister did not mention Albania and Albanians during her speech at the United Nations, the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarifies.

In a reaction to the media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies the news that circulated today in the Albanian media, which stated that during her speech at the UN, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld mentioned Albanian cocaine trafficking cartels.

"The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has followed up on the misinformation of some online media outlets today, regarding the completely untrue fact of the mention of Albania or Albanians, in the national speech of Ecuador, by the Foreign Minister of Ecuador, at the UN General Assembly.

This is a completely fabricated fact, without any truth, as neither Albania nor Albanians are mentioned in this speech, which is public, accessible on the official UN website.

"The minister's words can be read by anyone who does not try to misuse these high international forums by fabricating unfounded facts, to diminish the dignity, reputation and image that Albania has successfully built in the international arena," the Albanian Foreign Ministry explains.
