The final match of the Conference League will be played on May 25, at the "Air Albania" stadium in Tirana. Regarding the organization of the final, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, clarified that there is no speculation with the prices of hotels in the capital, contrary to what has been rumored by some media portals in recent days.
Veliaj explained that hotel prices can increase in cases of events of size such as a European final and that the change of prices is done by the algorithm of specialized online reservation systems.
I heard one last time when they said that "all those who deal with hotels in Albania are speculators, look how much the prices for the match have gone". But, you know what? The prizes for such a match would go just as much wherever it was played. So, the same people who a few days ago spread panic that the final would be played in another country and rejoiced at this "failure" of Albania, today mourn the prices in our hotels. But, the prices do not increase the hotels because the moment you enter applications like Booking, Expedia or Edreams, the price changes based on an algorithm. "Indeed, plane tickets start with 19 euros if you book it first, but they go to 100 euros and up to 300 euros if you leave it for the last hour", explained Veliaj.
"What I see happening in Tirana is that many people have put their homes in another global AirB & B network. So, even those who are probably not tourism professionals, are adapting their spaces to provide services of this nature and to produce more economy for the country, "said Veliaj.
