Republican leader Fatmir Mediu, at the start of the parliamentary session, considered the changes in the Electoral Code as bargains for narrow interests, and do not at all serve a free election process, where citizens have the opportunity to express their position later, in a way free and democratic.

Mediu said that it would be completely absurd to make changes for elections, for the freedom of voting, without first holding an essential debate. In this context, Mediu said that these are bargains that do not change the course of the 2025 elections at all.

" I think it is in the interest of this Assembly not to rush, this Assembly not to hire for those who have been hired as MPs, but to serve the interests of Albania and Albanians ", said Mediu.

Meanwhile, DP deputy, Asllan Dogjani requested that changes to the Electoral Code be made by secret ballot.

Dogjani said that through these changes, Edi Rama wants to take all of Albania hostage. " There are many socialist MPs who do not speak publicly, but have their own positions regarding these changes, so the changes should be voted on secretly ," said Dogjani.
