"I'd rather stick a knife in my children's throat than betray
Rudina Hajdari

Former member of parliament, Rudina Hajdari, recalled one of the episodes of the speeches of her father, Azem Hajdari, who was the leader of the 1990-1991 student movement that led to the fall of the communist regime.

She said that the people were very important to her father, that even when he was injured in the parliament, he went to activities in a wheelchair.

How does Azem Hajdari's daughter feel that her father was killed by a political system in which he was a shareholder? Here is how Rudina Hajdari answers:

"He said a sentence at that moment, for all the students he kept there that night, he became their leader. He said that if I betray you, I'd rather strangle my children, he said more harshly than that, I'd rather put a knife in my children's throat than betray you. It was a very serious sentence that stopped the whole crowd from hearing what he was saying, Dr. Berisha was a witness, I heard it from him. I feel his authenticity, when I hear those words, I feel the fact that the journey in politics is his trust. As a child I went through difficulties, he was very fond of his children and family and called his time very late. The moment my father was injured in the parliament and he recovered so quickly, he went to every activity in a wheelchair, he was carried on crutches, he had a courage that I have not seen in anyone else", Hajdari said.
