French President Emmanuel Macron described his historical visit to Tirana for the first time as a repaired relationship.
Macron pointed out that it was a mistake on the French side the fact that since 1912 no French president had set foot on Albanian soil, however Macron said that his presence in Tirana evidences a 'rectification' of past mistakes, paving the way for cooperation between France, our country and the countries of the Region.
' I can tell them that I am glad to be here without taking any diplomatic care of the language. I am happy to be with you at such a delicate moment in Europe. With the war in Ukraine, with terrorism in our country, the war in the Caucasus because I mentioned yesterday's attack in Buksel.
Being by your side is a form of reengagement of France by you and in the Region. It was a mistake that since 1912 no French president had set foot here... and we see this as repairing our damage. It's a re-engagement. I was happy and proud to hand over the decoration to Kadare, and we spent very nice moments with Prelocaj, etc. This expresses the strong relationship that exists in our relationship. I hope we have further engagements, to study the French language in your country as well as for the French lyceum in Korça ,' said Macron.
