The acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, met on Wednesday with the head of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radonic .

The meeting is being held one day after the Assembly failed to elect a President within the constitutional deadline and Kosovo is forced to hold new parliamentary elections.

Kosovo must hold new elections within 45 days.

The ruling party, the Vetevendosje Movement, failed to reach an agreement with the opposition on this issue, and as a result, the country is heading to elections.

To set the date for the elections, Haxhiu must invite political parties to a meeting to reach an agreement. According to REL, there are two possible dates for holding new early elections according to legal procedures.

Melos Kolshi, a researcher at the Kosovo Law Institute (IKD), stressed that the elections could be held on May 31 or June 7.
