The group of Socialist Party advisors in the Municipality of Tirana has today filed the draft decision for the dismissal of Mayor Erion Veliaj.

The main reason for the dismissal is the mayor's absence from office for 3 months due to the criminal process, which according to them makes active leadership necessary for the capital, "especially in a period of rapid economic and social development."

The councilors state that this initiative is not an admission of the charges against Veliaj, but a legal and moral necessity to give the city a stable and effective direction.

If approved, this request will be sent to the Council of Ministers for a final decision.
