Skender Gjinushi

The elections for the new head of the Academy of Sciences were held today. The only candidate for this post was Skender Gjinushi, who was reconfirmed.

Out of 53 members of the Academy of Sciences, 51 of them voted for Gjinushi and only 2 of them against.

The elections were held without rivals and campaigning inside or outside the Academy of Sciences, with scientific opinion, where the contestants could present their platforms and ideas.

We remind you that the only one who declared against today's procedures was academician Artan Fuga.

The draft law that provides for changes in the 2019 law "On the Academy of Sciences" was met with criticism from the opposition and many academics, for the wording related to the mandate of the president of the ASH.
