As tributes are being held in honor of the writer Ismail Kadare, hundreds of citizens, as well as well-known figures of art, culture and politics, have paid tribute to the colossus of Albanian literature.

Among the first politicians who paid tribute to Kadare are the former leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha and the leader of the Freedom Party Ilir Meta.

In a short speech to the media, Basha praised the figure and creativity of Kadare, while he also had a message for the young people who he says should read the works of the colossus of Albanian literature.

"Kadare has ascended to the Pantheon of eternity as the man who, in the most difficult time for the Albanian nation, reminded his compatriots and the whole world that we are one of the nations of the European identity and the formation of the European identity. This at a time when every effort was made to destroy the connections of Albanians with their habitat, which is Europe. I had a message for young people, to try to read even a poem or a novel by Ismail Kadare that will transform and change them, to understand their value as Albanians, even as individuals", said Basha.
