The Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi described as an almost serious fire the flames that occupied the island of Sazan for four days in a row.
During the debate in the Commission with the PD deputy Ferdinant Xhaferaj, Peleshi said that the issue of the fire in Sazan was made as if it had become famous.
"We had an almost serious fire in Sazan. Mr. Xhaferraj pretends to be famous. But we have a hot summer ahead. I do not have an extraordinary experience. I had the honor and responsibility to serve in institutions related to civil emergencies.
The issue of fire fighting is not resolved by air capacity alone. I do not want to shirk responsibility. We have to fight the mentality that fire is extinguished by helicopter. It is impossible to withstand fires all over the country. "If you look at the map of fires, it is impossible to have 10 more planes", said Peleshi.
He pointed the finger at the municipalities saying that they are the ones who depend on the firefighters and they should make the first reaction to prevent the spread of flames.
"The problem starts from the reaction of the local government. Since the community and the village elder. We are the last link. We have the responsibility to coordinate emergencies. We do not have firefighters. Firefighters have municipalities. "From the moment there is a small hearth, firefighters must react," he said.
