Ermal Hasimja officially offers himself as a candidate for Tirana: What do I ask
Ermal Hasimja and Berisha

Pedagogue and analyst, Ermal Hasimja, one of the names discussed in recent days as a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, has publicly announced his candidacy for the capital.

During a statement to Euronews Albania, Hasimja announced that he is presenting his candidacy for mayor of Tirana, further emphasizing that he is seeking the support of Sali Berisha and the opposition parties.

"It seems to me that the logical position is for a united opposition to come up with an independent candidate, who will be supported by the largest possible majority of opposition parties. Berisha has requested that the other candidates also express their wishes and ambitions."

"Having this opportunity, I am addressing Mr. Berisha and the leadership of the Democratic Party, as well as other opposition forces, publicly presenting my candidacy for the head of the Municipality of Tirana, with the same criteria that he has defined: independent candidate, without a specific party logo, supported by the majority of the opposition. Therefore, Mr. Berisha can consider my candidacy submitted and consider it ," said Hasimja.

Meanwhile, Sali Berisha said today that the Democratic Party will consider independent candidates in these elections with the greatest seriousness and that it will wait for them for two more days.

"The DP highly values and appreciates independent candidacies. We will consider with the greatest seriousness independent candidates who compete as such and who are considered necessary for their victory, the support of the DP. I believe that in a wave with this from the previous discussions, other opposition forces are also " , said Berisha.
