The Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has launched investigations into former president Ilir Meta.
The head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, addressed a letter to the Central Election Commission.
SPAK requested the decriminalization form for Meta, after a lawsuit in the special structure.
SPAK thus requests from the CEC to make available the form for the purpose of the investigation for the chairman of the Freedom Party.
"For the purpose of the investigation of this criminal proceeding, we request a copy of the self-declaration form in accordance with the law "On guaranteeing the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions, submitted by the former deputy Ilir Meta", it is stated in the request of SPAK.
A few weeks ago, the largest Austrian newspaper "Kronen Zeitung" published serious facts about the financing of lobbying that Ilir Meta has done in the United States of America.
The newspaper raised questions about Meta's visit to Washington and the source of funding for this money.
According to the newspaper, it is about figures that reach hundreds of thousands of euros for lobbying using companies registered in offshore areas to avoid the source of income, but also the declaration to the bodies that have the duty to control the financing of parties or politicians in Albania, such as is CEC and ILDKPKI.
After the news published by the Austrian media that denounced the $700,000 lobbying affair, Ilir Meta was reported to SPAK. The report was made by the former MP Halit Valteri, who said that he has evidence that Meta, during his time in power, benefited from corruption and used it for lobbying.
He says that he was recently contacted by a foreign journalist, whose name he has not chosen to make public, but he states that he has made available to him some documents that prove Meta's corrupt affair.
The former deputy, in addition to the newspaper article, has claimed that there is additional evidence brought to him by a foreign journalist, which includes invoices and contracts, which confirm Ilir Meta's lavishing of unjustified money when he was the head of the LSI.
Ilir Meta had presidential immunity until July 24 of this year, when his mandate ended.
700 thousand USD lobbying is confirmed
Several documents published in the media have confirmed the authenticity of the article published a few days ago by the Austrian newspaper "Kronen Zeitung", which denounced Ilir Meta and LSI for having paid 700 thousand USD for lobbying in the United States of America, for a photo at the inauguration ceremony of US President Donald Trump, in 2017.
The documents submitted to the American authorities seriously compromise Ilir Meta and LSI. The contracts confirm that Ilir Meta, at the beginning of 2017, paid about 700 thousand dollars to the company McKeon Group. 90,000 dollars were paid by lawyer Iraklis Fidetzis, while another 600,000 dollars were paid by Fidetzis, but through the company "Dorelita Limited", registered as offshore in Cyprus.
Where did Ilir Meta find the money to make the payments in January-February 2017 for the company McKeon Group and 600 thousand euros for the company "Dorelita Limited"? Has Meta declared this money to the Central Election Commission or to the High Inspectorate of Assets Declaration and Control?
Contrary to what the American documents show, in its annual financial report for 2017, submitted to the Central Election Commission, LSI has reported expenses for consulting and lobbying in the amount of 3.3 million ALL. Specifically, LSI has declared to the CEC consulting expenses in the amount of ALL 1,414,465 with the company JPM Strategic Solution LLC USA. Also, the Socialist Movement for Integration Party has declared in the financial report consulting services with the company MCKEON GROUP, in the amount of ALL 1,942,500.
The Central Election Commission, through a report, has found that LSI does not justify with legal sources of income even the second contract, the one with the company MCKEON GROUP, worth 1.9 million ALL.
