Debate with Farage about Albanian immigrants, Rama speaks on British radio:
Nigel Farage and Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has given an interview to the British radio station "Times Radio", where he spoke about the issue of Albanian immigrants in the United Kingdom and his public debate on this issue with the leader of the Reform UK party, Nigel Farage.

Regarding this issue, Rama said that the British politician's statements were absurd:

"There is a lot of absurdity in all this, because there is not a large number of Albanian prisoners in the UK that are somehow distinguishable from the total number of prisoners in Britain and from their other nationalities. So it is a small part of the larger mosaic of lies and self-deceptive arguments that were used to convince the British people to leave the European Union."

Then he adds:

"Let's get to the real facts. We've done a lot of work with several British governments and the number of Albanians has been reduced to a total that is not relevant for such a discussion. On the other hand, I wonder, where the hell are you going to find the people to build your houses, to serve you coffee, to be your taxi drivers, your truck drivers? That's not a question for me to answer, it's for your politicians."

This interview comes just a week after British politician Nigel Farage announced that he would meet for lunch with Prime Minister Edi Rama. A meeting that he said would take place in the coming weeks in the hope of reaching an agreement on the deportation of Albanian prisoners. Farage provoked by saying that perhaps when he comes to Albania he will take some Albanian prisoners with him and book a large plane to get as many of them out as possible.

In today's interview, the Albanian prime minister also reiterated his invitation for Farage to visit Albania himself: " He has said he will come for a visit and I will be very happy to see him. His plan is to come and perform his incredible and theatrical gesture of politics."

Rama adds: “ It will be a really great opportunity to meet a man who has a lot of talent, is very intelligent, to put aside his theater and also to show him how beautiful Albania is and to convince him to make Albania a place for his vacation.”
