On December 7, 2023, the judge of the Special Court, Erion Çela, rejected the request of the former head of the LSI, Monika Kryemadhi, to return some seized items to her.
2 weeks before this decision, BKH agents had carried out checks in the offices of the Freedom Party and in the house of the MP's mother.
As the media reported, documents, computers and at least 5 phones were seized.
The chief rushed to the Special Court of Appeal to return only one of them, an old iPhone brand.
This phone, from several sources, was found in her mother's house, which has a communicating door with the MP's house.
BKH agents had entered this environment with a search warrant from the Special Court.
During the investigations on Kryemadhi, they had found some suspicious documents bearing the name of the deputy's mother.
On January 4, 2024, the appeal, chaired by Igerta Hysi, rejected his request.
The PL MP insisted.
She turned to the Supreme Court, which decided today (04/05/2024) not to give her the mobile phone.
SPAK, through prosecutor Sotir Kllapi, argued at both levels of the judiciary that the materials found on the phone of the ex-president of LSI were valid for the ongoing investigation against her for LSI's lobbying contract in the USA in 2017.
But apart from the data on lobbying, the former leader of Ilir Meta's party seems to be concerned by other data found in the seized device.
Kryemadhi has insisted in all courts that the phone is hers.
According to her, being a member of parliament, no personal item can be seized due to her immunity.
But SPAK prosecutors told the courts that, if they accept such a request, claims of this nature can be raised by any deputy or person with immunity for items that prosecutors can seize in different cases, saying "they are mine".
SPAK prosecutors say that they have not yet proven with evidence who the device belongs to.
The mayor and her mother are on the same page: it belongs to the deputy.
But SPAK says that it has not reached a conclusion.
According to some sources, this phone is suspected to have been used between 2013 and 2016.
If it was used by Monika Kryemadhi, the period coincides with the time when LSI was in power.
At that time, LSI was in coalition with the Socialist Party, which it joined after 4 years of coalition with the Democratic Party.
Kryemadhi did not hold official office in that period, writes zoom.al
However, she has had a key role in LSI as the wife of the chairman Ilir Meta, as the chairman of the Women's Forum, a member of the presidency and deputy, until in 2017 she was elected chairman, a position she held until the day she returned the party to Meta.
For this reason, it is believed that she had communications with important people of that period.
It is about ministers, important directors of LSI, MPs, administration employees, businessmen, etc.
Her insistence on retrieving exactly this mobile device among the 5 seized has added to the suspicions that SPAK may have found compromising communications.
The sources who confirmed the data said that SPAK was able to open the device, but did not provide other details.
It is not clear what conversations are left on the phone, but sources said that the communications left on the device are numerous.
According to them, almost all the people she talked to can be called to SPAK for questioning.
"It is not surprising that at the doors of SPAK we see former ministers of LSI and SP, various MPs, general directors and other high officials or businessmen" - said a source close to the investigation.
Monika Kryemadhi is being investigated together with several managers and former managers of LSI for lobbying contracts in the USA.
In addition, she and her husband, former president and chairman of PL, Ilir Meta, have been reported to the Special Prosecutor's Office for money laundering.
