The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, from the floor of the Assembly, called on the opposition MPs not to vote for the criminal amnesty.

Basha said that according to this amnesty, directors and specialists accused of corruption benefit, while more than 700 activists, citizens and members of the DP, who were "persecuted" during the protests and accused of opposing the police forces, will remain in prison.

Part of Basha's speech:

Officials, officials, even specialists will benefit, but members of civil society, DP members who opposed and are being persecuted by the relevant article of opposition to police forces in cooperation will not benefit. These are the facts, this is the twisted bargain.

I address my colleagues from the opposition, look at each other's faces and think how you will answer the Democrats, over 700 are persecuted by the relevant article. In the meantime, you are helping to acquit those directors who caused their imprisonment. If you want to show that you have no business with Edi Rama, vote for the PD amendment. If you don't want corrupt officials to vote, vote for the PD amendment. If you want to benefit all the protesters, vote for the PD amendment.

Each of you has the opportunity to exclude from the amnesty all acts of corruption.
