The opposition protested in front of the municipality of Tirana, after the arrest of former officials in the framework of the investigations of the 5D file. Among the protesters was the daughter of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Argita Malltezi, who was wearing a T-shirt with the inscription "Free the Leader of the Opposition". In a statement to the media, Malltezi said that Veliaj is not just a mayor, but also a potential candidate for prime minister.

 "This is not just a mayor. This is a mayor who intends to be prime minister tomorrow. If you want to have an Edi Rama-bis for another 13 years, but an ugly model of Edi Rama, an ugly copy of Edi Rama, then don't react; keep going and that will be the pattern that will prevail," she said.

The protesters hit the Municipality of Tirana with eggs and apples, as the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party called for Veliaj's removal from the leadership of the capital.

 "Without any discussion, what happened with the Municipality of Tirana, where within a short period they gave themselves 22 million euros, is also a cause. It is clear the situation where the central and local governments have ended. Veliaj will not have to be in the mayor's office, but accompany his five subordinates to prison. This is not an isolated case and it is the same scheme used by the head of ARRSH and it is in every municipality of the country that is run by socialists", said Gazmend Bardhi.

The member of the municipal council from the ranks of the Democratic Party, Ilir Alimehmeti asked to submit a request for an urgent meeting for the arrest of the directors of the Municipality of Tirana.

"The request is official. The request is to hold an urgent meeting on the issues in question where we have arrested senior leaders of the municipality of Tirana, we have high-level leaders, we need transparency for the Municipal Council and this then becomes transparent for the people, that this is our duty, and we are being prevented from doing our perfectly civic duty, by other people who are in office, but receive wrong orders."

A few days ago, the Special Prosecutor's Office issued nine arrest warrants for the file of the company '5D Konstruksion', where it is suspected that former officials and officials of the municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with each other, have favored this company in public tenders.
