There were no surprises expected in the race for the Democratic Party leader and the end of the count confirmed it.

What is noticeable is the deep victory of former Prime Minister Berisha against the other candidate Ibsen Elezi.

In Sunday's election in 108 polling stations across the country, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha received an overwhelming majority of votes.

Berisha thus comes to the helm of the blue headquarters after 9 years of its leadership by Lulzim Basha. So far the process has been smooth and there have been no incidents.

Already, the fate of the country's largest opposition political force rests with the Tirana Court, a process that has been accompanied by numerous controversies.

On the other hand, Berisha did not take into account the warnings received from the US and recently from Germany, that with his return, international partners will terminate cooperation with the DP.

Berisha's return to the helm of the Democratic Party comes just four days after an anniversary of his and his family being declared "non-women" by the US State Department on serious charges of mass corruption and obstruction of justice.
