Agron Shehaj does not support Florjan Binaj's candidacy: Polls were needed
Agron Shehaj

The non-partisan candidate who was supposed to unite the opposition in the race for Tirana mayor has once again failed to achieve his goal.

For the leader of the Mundësia party, Agron Shehaj, supporting the candidacy of actor Florian Binaj is an ill-considered choice, and according to him, Sali Berisha, with this decision, "has blown up the process."

"I find it irresponsible to make such a decision, it is not serious to make a decision without making a measurement," he said, among other things.

"We are faced with the fait accompli that the Democratic Party has found its candidate. Our request for an apolitical candidate was not an end in itself, but a way to find a winning candidate outside of political parties. We have nothing against the name of Florian Binjat, but in order to come up with a common name, surveys should have been conducted for all the names that were proposed. In this situation, the Opportunity Party will decide in the coming days on the approach it will take for the elections," he said.

Asked if he had spoken to Berisha, he said: No, I have not communicated with Berisha or with a representative of the DP.
