"I respect the decision of every country and I have a relationship with the Albanian people.", This is how the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, answered the question of whether he expects to be declared "nongrata" by the United States of America, just like the former prime minister Sali Berisha.
Meta stated in an interview on MCN that the "non gratas" are stories of Edi Rama's propaganda kitchen
Question : There is speculation that there is a possibility that you too will be declared non grata by the US. Do you have any signal?
Meta: I don't deal with these issues at all and you know my position even when Mr. Berisha was announced. I respect the decision of every country anywhere in the world and absolutely this has nothing to do with the reports of Ilir Meta, first of all with the people of Albania, because I think that this is the main report that keeps me in politics, but not only in politics, but throughout my life as a patriot, a citizen, as a patriot, and as a man born and determined to always serve my country regardless of my position. As I have always done, so I will do in the future. As for international relations, I have been at the head of every effort for the European integration of Albania and no one has done more as a politician in 30 years, coherently, to help this process, than Ilir Meta. In the future, we will fulfill every obligation we have in relation to the EU. I have been since my beginnings, even when the SP was against the accession to NATO, for Albania's membership in NATO. And we will fulfill all the obligations we have towards NATO in the future. All these others are stories of Edi Rama's propaganda kitchen.
Question : How problematic is the use of this instrument in domestic politics?
Meta : In domestic politics, the priority for me is only one thing, the eradication of Edi Rama's corrupt system. And in the first place, the eradication of the corruption of certain leaders of the former opposition or who pretend to be in opposition today and only want to divert the focus of an anti-corruption revolution aimed at the capture of the state, in initiatives that only interest Edi Rama.
