Two thousand years ago, the Roman Empire lived in the glory of its power.

Her body stretched from the British Isles to the Black Sea and from Spain west to Egypt. Its military capabilities, technical and cultural achievements are to this day unheard of and have no contemporary comparison.

Its inhabitants were the first to realize how important infrastructure was for a normal life. Just remembering that they lived in houses with heated floors, we can imagine how progressive they were.

And this did not happen only in big cities. In the remote regions of the provinces there were suitable roads and trade there flourished peacefully. People cooled off in thermal springs and enjoyed great food while being entertained in theaters and circus arenas.

One day she fell.

How did such a great empire fall?

One thing is clear; there was no spark that ended it. Neither fire from heaven nor from earth. If it had been so easy, perhaps we would not have today those museums and exhibitions filled with such rare artifacts, but researchers would not have dealt with this topic for centuries.

History teaches us that her downfall was a 'long chain of events'.

Its vast extent, on three continents, always remained a maddening challenge for the Roman generals. By annexing more and more countries, they also added the provinces of the empire, which needed to be maintained. High military expenditure was the primary task of the day, that her outer borders might be firmly secured. These achievements constantly swallowed large sums of money.

What happened?

It is a fact that there were inhabitants who sought to escape the invading Huns, but also Romans who were unable to defend their borders themselves, because the number in their population was falling. There were no longer enough births and hence the number of soldiers was insufficient.

Although, although I usually prefer more left-wing views on class struggle, I still always manage to refer to this novel when the true face of the province or a provincial appears before me.

The novel "Province" by Liridon Mulaj aroused my curiosity from the title and why deny the elaboration of its content. The original and very unique description as well as the power of the language, created an anxiety for me giving right to the conscience for what I had thought above. An environment where countless injustices find their way to the deepest corners of every child's soul.
