Professional drivers are one of the most sought-after professions on the European labor market. The salaries offered by logistics companies are well above average and often go up to 3,500 euros, depending on the route. One of the problems has to do with the age of the drivers, because data shows that the majority of those currently working are over 55 years old.
The other side of the driver shortage problem is that young people don't want to do the job because they want something 'cleaner and easier' like the IT and marketing industry. It remains to be seen whether the high salaries will attract them or whether bus driver positions, for example, will continue to be filled by foreign workers.
In the job announcements on the Internet, it can be seen that almost all categories of drivers are wanted: drivers of trucks, buses, vans, taxi drivers and others. The highest paid among them are undoubtedly the truck drivers, and huge profits are also made from home delivery of food and other products.
In one of the advertisements in Croatia for the position of truck driver for international transport, the salary offered is 3300 euros. As stated in the announcement, the employer offers permanent employment as well as full-time employment, and the only condition is to have at least one year of work experience in international transport.
Salaries are similar in Slovenia. A truck driver in Slovenia is offered a salary of 3,000 euros and a one-year contract. Wages for carriers of international traffic are very difficult to specify, says the business association of international carriers, because it all depends on the route they move.
