 The birth of a child is an event that completely changes a woman's life. However, pregnancy is not only the "sweet welcome" that we often read about on social networks or hear on TV, it also carries with it some risks and challenges that few people talk about. From time to time, adverse situations may arise during the birth process that present us with difficult decisions, such as the choice between saving the life of the mother or the baby.

Although it is a delicate issue, Anabel Morales, a TikTok user found the courage to speak about it. She posted a video in which she expressed her desire for her husband to choose her in case of any complications during the birth, prioritizing her life over the baby's.

The video reads: “To my husband, if you're in labor and the doctor says you have to choose between me and the baby, please save me. I don't want Ethan to grow up without a mother and I don't want you to raise two children alone while you suffer the loss of your wife."

The video shocked many mothers who experienced mixed emotions about the decision. One user, for example, commented that she had asked her husband the same question and his response was: “I will save you. We can have another child, but I can't have another you."

Another person added that her husband always said: “We can have another child, but our children who are already with us cannot have another mother. I cannot replace you.”

Some users, on the other hand, disagreed and chose to voice their opinions in the comments. One mother wrote: "I would prioritize our son over me any time... I've lived my life but his is just beginning." Another commented: "I understand that, but honestly, I don't think I could live with myself if I made that decision."

Mothers around the world continue to face a variety of difficulties during pregnancy and childbirth. The United States has one of the highest maternal mortality rates among first world countries. Therefore, when discussing having children, it is important to talk to your partner about the risks involved during pregnancy and childbirth.

While no one can deny that motherhood is a beautiful journey, it only takes a little to complicate things. Proper planning and sharing responsibilities are what make a good parent. However, it is also important that you have the ability to make the right decision for yourself and your family.
