At first glance, Hugo and Huxley may look like any other domestic dog, but these two are social media bloggers and bring their owner £100,000 a year from modeling, advertising and sponsorship.

Hugo, nine, and Huxley, three, are part of a growing trend for pets blogging on social media, with advertising agencies capitalizing on the internet's love of all things pet-related.

Now he earns around £750 on a normal day and for an Instagram ad of two dogs, companies have to pay £3,000 to £5,000.

"It's my full-time job now," says Aitchison, 34.

"I spend my days taking the dogs to photoshoots, keeping your schedule and managing Instagram posts."

Aitchison says she earns at least £100,000 a year from modeling her dogs.

In fact, she adds, it should probably be up to £150,000 if you include all the freebies.

Much of Aitchison, Hugo and Huxley's work is offered through their agency, Urban Paës, founded in 2015 to cater for the growing demand for professional dog models.

Layla Flaherty, chief executive and "pet detective", says the demand for pet models has grown every year and the agency has expanded from dogs to cats, rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles, turtles and even deer and spiders. .

"There is an ever-increasing demand for animals in advertising, on TV and for promoting products on social media," says Flaherty.

"This year we expect an increase in rabbit bookings as it is the Chinese year of the rabbit."

However, dogs are a source of income, especially on Instagram and TikTok.

"Companies are looking to dogs for advertising more than anything else."

Hugo and Huxley have lives that people envy. They're constantly walking the red carpet at events and getting freebies, food, clothes and everything."

Flaherty's advice to anyone considering turning their dog into a social media star is to "engage early," know your audience and stay on top of viral trends.
