The personal effects of the late actor Matthew Perry will be auctioned off next month in a joint venture with his non-profit foundation, Heritage Auctions announced.

The auction will begin on June 5th, and net proceeds will be used to support the foundation's mission: building a future free of addiction stigma, where every person seeking help has access to the care and resources needed for recovery.

Other recipients include the Matthew Perry Foundation Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as other organizations working in addiction treatment, including the healing-focused music festival Healing Appalachia.

Matthew Perry, known for his role in the series Friends and nominated for five Emmy Awards, has spoken openly about his long-term battle with addiction.

“Matthew Perry was a person the public felt they knew well. Through his work and sincerity, he created a special connection with audiences around the world,” said Joe Maddalena of Heritage Auctions. “This auction gives fans the opportunity to connect with his story through personal artifacts.”

According to the organizers, the auction is not only an opportunity for collectors, but also a way to support the cause that the actor held dear - helping people struggling with addiction.

Among the most special items going up for auction are “Friends”-related items, including a collection of 26 scripts and two others signed by the cast including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. Also up for auction will be a special photo album and the iconic yellow frame from Monica’s apartment.

The auction also includes the actor's 1995 Screen Actors Guild Award for Performance in a Comedy Series, as well as artwork by renowned artists such as Banksy and Mel Bochner.

The bidding process has already begun, and the items will be on public display in Beverly Hills from May 18 to 29. The auction will take place both online and in person in Dallas on June 5.

The foundation's executive director, Lisa Kasteller Kallio, emphasized that this initiative aims to raise awareness and expand access to treatment: "Matthew believed that addiction should be treated with compassion and science, not with stigma and silence."
