The famous singer Celine Dion has been dealing with a rare disease for some time now, as she battles with an incurable rigid person syndrome.

In an interview with 'Hello', Celine's sister, Claudette Dion, has revealed that she and the family can do very little to help her "strong" sister and "ease her pain".

"She is doing everything she can to recover and is a strong woman," Claudette said.

"It's a disease we know so little about. There are spasms – they are impossible to control. Do you know which people often dance at night because of a leg cramp? It's a little like that, but in all the muscles," she continued.

"There is little we can do to support her, to ease her pain," she said, adding that they are "crossing their fingers that researchers find a cure for this terrible disease."

According to the National Institutes of Health, stiff person syndrome is a "rare progressive neurological disorder" that can cause muscle stiffness in the torso, arms and legs.

Their sister Linda and her husband have since moved into Celine's Las Vegas home to act as caretakers for the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker.

"It's comforting for all of us to have you around Celine," added Claudette.

Last month, Claudette revealed that despite working with "the best researchers in the field," the Grammy winner has seen little improvement in her health.

"We can't find any medicine that works, but having hope is important," Claudette told Le Journal de Montreal.

Celine revealed her diagnosis in December 2022, which forced her to stop her music activities, including touring.

Claudette said canceling the tour was a necessary move for her chances of rehabilitation.

"I honestly think she needs to rest the most," she previously said.

“She always goes above and beyond, she always strives to be the best and at the top of her game. At some point, your heart and body are trying to tell you something. It's important to listen to him," she added.

In May, Celine announced "with tremendous disappointment" that she was canceling more than 40 of her tour dates due to the debilitating disorder.

"I'm so sorry to disappoint you all once again. I am working hard to get my strength back, but the tournament can be very difficult even when you are 100%.

It's not fair to you to keep postponing shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it's okay to cancel everything now until I'm really ready to get back on stage,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
