The American newspaper "Wall Street Journal" (WSJ) commented on the exchange operation carried out in Ankara under the management of the National Secret Service Agency of Turkey (MIT) as "another diplomatic success for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan".

Among those released through the exchange operation from MIT was WSJ journalist Evan Gershkovich, the newspaper's report says, recalling that Turkey has organized many "prisoner exchanges" since the day the war broke out in Ukraine.

The WSJ emphasized that the exchange operation between the US and Russia is "another diplomatic success" for President Erdogan and assessed that it "once again reminds the West of the value of Turkey's mediation".

Further recalling that Turkey was an effective player in the "Black Sea Grain Initiative" agreement, the newspaper pointed out that Turkey held peace talks on the Ukraine war, although it did not reach a conclusion.

Also, WSJ writes that President Erdogan has followed an independent course from the West regarding relations with Russia.

Yesterday, MIT carried out the most extensive exchange operation in recent times, which involved the mutual exchange of 26 people to prisons in the US, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, Russia and Belarus.

Among those exchanged in the operation are Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, ex-US Marine Paul Whelan, German citizen mercenary Rico Krieger, Russian dissident Ilya Yashin and Russian Federal Security Service officer Vadim Krasikov. .
