Former US President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is still ahead of Kamala Harris, according to a recent poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports.
The telephone and online poll found the matchup to be close, with 49% of likely American voters going to vote for Trump, while 44% would vote for Harris. At the same time, 4% of participants said they would vote for another candidate and 2% remain undecided. A week ago, Trump led Harris by seven points, 50% to 43%, in the first poll since Joe Biden announced he would withdraw his re-election bid.
The Rasmussen Reports poll was conducted July 24-25 among 2,163 US citizens who said they intend to vote in the presidential election.
Recall that Biden decided not to run for re-election amid concerns about his health and proposed as his replacement US Vice President Kamala Harris, who has not yet officially won the Democratic Party's nomination, although she is said to have gathered enough support within the party.
