Vucic: The barricades will be removed within 48 hours

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, after the meeting with the representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo, said that the removal of the barricades in the north of Kosovo will start this morning.

"In 24 hours or 48 hours, the barricades will be removed," he said.

He met the representatives of Serbs from Kosovo on the evening of December 28 at the barracks of the Serbian Army in Raska, near the border with Kosovo.

After the meeting, Vucic read the conclusion of the representatives of the Serbs from the north of Kosovo, regarding the removal of the barricades.

"The trust of the Serbs in the discriminatory institutions of Pristina does not exist, and it is impossible to achieve", it was said in the conclusion read by Vucic

"We don't trust [Kosovo Prime Minister Albin] Kurti, and we can't. If the arrests and terror against the Serbian people continue, we will forever close the north of Kosovo to the discriminatory institutions of Pristina. Then, we will set up barricades that will never be removed and that for Pristina they will be a border that will never be crossed", it was said in the statement read by Vucic.

Vucic said that in this statement he is asked "not to recognize the independence of Kosovo, in any form, because it is the territory of Serbia".

Asked by journalists about the return of Serbs from the north to the institutions of Kosovo, Vucic replied that "the removal of barricades has nothing to do with this issue". "The return to institutions is conditioned by the Brussels Agreement, which talks about the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority," he said.
