The killers ended the life of María Daniela Icaza Resabala , who was the director in charge of the Guayaquil Litoral prison, in Ecuador.

This event happened at 18:00 on Thursday in Ecuador, (around 01:00 this morning, September 13, European time), at the entrance of Pascuales, near the prison.

The murder of the official happened when she was driving a "Chevrolet" car, Vishnja, on the way to Daule, when they approached the "Sicario" to kill her (paid assassin). Icaza headed the Social Rehabilitation Center for Men No. 1, while the motives and authors still remain unknown.

The director of IEVP Litoral was traveling in the car as co-pilot, when unknown persons shot at her several times. The National Police, through its social networks, has confirmed the death of Icaza after the armed attack (in the photo, the moment of the murder).

After the event, the Police announced that an operation was underway to find the perpetrators of the official's murder.

"Our police personnel are already at the scene, starting investigations that will allow finding the persons responsible", says a publication from the entity.

After 7:25 p.m., the National Comprehensive Care Service for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Delinquent Adolescents (SNAI), reconfirmed the murder of the IEVP Director.

"With deep regret and sorrow, we express our most sincere condolences on the death of María Daniela Icaza Resabala," a condolence statement said.

It shows that she fulfilled the functions of the director in charge of CPL Guayas Masculino Nr. 1. We remind you that in this institution of isolation and punishment there are also Albanians, members of various cartels.

Only on September 3 there was another precedent, as Álex Guevara, director of Lago Agrio prison, in the Amazonian province of Sucumbío, was executed under similar circumstances.

The main track for the assassination remains the internal war between the criminal clans of the largest prison.

Resabala ran a prison with 12,000 arrested and convicted people, of which 6,000 were for serious crimes.

Between 2021 and 2023, dozens of murders were recorded between criminal clans in conflicts to control the internal territory of the prison and run illegal activities.

Often the police had to intervene to establish order. According to statistics, in the last three years, dozens of people have been killed every year.

 And the country's statistics speak of about 47 killed per 100,000 inhabitants. The precedents of assassinations against prison directors have been increasing.
