VIDEO: US releases footage of destroying an Iranian naval control tower

The US military announced on Friday that it had destroyed a surveillance tower at the Chabahar Shahid Kalantari Port in Iran, which according to US Central Command was part of a network used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to track and target commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. 

The footage shows the tower being targeted and then destroyed in the attack. Videos filmed by citizens are also circulating on social media, showing the moment of the strike from a different angle.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth published a photo of the moment of the attack on the X platform, accompanied by the message: "Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz."

According to a CENTCOM statement, on July 16, US forces destroyed the surveillance tower at the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari port, part of a maritime surveillance network that, according to the US, has been used for decades by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to monitor and target commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said it had attacked a US special operations command center in Al-Tanf, Syria, in retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr.

The Revolutionary Guard also said it had targeted radar systems and US military aircraft in Qatar, claiming to have destroyed several refueling planes and fighter jets.

In its statement, the Guard called on Jordanian citizens to target "aggressive and anti-Islamic American interests" in their country. 

In Kuwait, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that a power generation and desalination station was hit by an Iranian attack, causing a fire and outages of a large number of production units.
